Last week, part of the Hotels for Hope Crew descended on Orlando for 2014 IBTM America. For those unfamiliar with the event, IBTM provides an exclusive and private event where 250 exhibitors and 250 premier meeting planners are carefully selected based on their industry relevance, expertise and business they have to place resulting in an all-important 1 to 1 ratio.
H4H was fortunate enough to send Michael Shannon, Mary Meath, Veronica Lee and Ricky Robichaud as part of the event’s Hosted Buyer program.
We’ve taken a step back from the action packed meetings, networking and trade show floor to provide our insights on the event…
“AIBTM was a wonderful opportunity to allow us to network and share our story of this amazing company with the industry. As this was for me, my first conference as a member of the CREW of H4H, I wanted to ensure that I was able to maximize the opportunity to develop some key partnerships in the experience. With both a goal of meeting as many vendor partners as we could, and also spreading the story to perspective clients, we were all kept quite busy.
I had also attended some of the educational programs and one in particular was most enjoyable. It was the session on “Meetings Mean Business”. This session was led by a panel of industry experts from all industry associations that are collaborating as one voice for the Meetings Industry and the impact it has on the global economy. One industry, one voice.
The appointments and networking opportunities led to some great interest and having 4 members of the H4H CREW present made our presence more visible and people were definitely talking about us. It was great to see and hear.”
“It was a great opportunity to connect with suppliers and planners and learn about new innovations in technology and event services.”
“Last week’s AIBTM was my first travel expo. It was a great opportunity to introduce Hotels for Hope to even more people- hoteliers as well as planners! We met a lot of planners who were very interested in learning more about our services and our mission.
It was also a great opportunity to learn more about new technology that is available out there for our groups from live streaming keynotes to apps that help attendees maneuver through conference schedules, speakers, and even handouts at your fingertips. The same app can also create a social media portal where attendees can post discussions like a dedicated conference Facebook.
Our team covered so much ground while at the convention that people started to recognize our name! It was a great feeling!”
“Large enough to ensure quality contacts, yet intimate enough to allow key conversations to continue, AIBTM proved to be an ideal setting in our mission to spread the Hotels for Hope story.
On the show floor, I was able to meet with many hoteliers and CVB’s to discuss our expectations of them and ensure effective partnership on future programs. Additionally, sharing the H4H Vision and passion with industry leaders confirmed that we are not just forging a new path, but building a model that will drive change across the globe.
The true value came from “down time” when we were able to engage with the hosted buyers on the shuttle buses, at receptions or in the lounges. It was these personal settings that enabled me to have valuable conversations with a few key decision-makers that laid the groundwork for what hopefully will develop into a great relationship.”
