Last month, our friends and RoomFunding™ partners at The NASCAR Foundation® delivered a very special racing experience to the kids at the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. In celebration of the Foundation’s new partnership and $1 million donation in support of the hospital’s Child Life program, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France, his wife Amy, and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Matt Tifft hosted a pinewood derby-style race for children receiving care at this special hospital.
The group stopped by to spend quality time with the young patients who receive treatment at the facility. Mr. and Mrs. France sat with the kids as they decorated their toy racecars together, while NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Tifft hosted a playful competition with patients in a downhill derby race, complete with The NASCAR Foundation’s mascot Chase cheering them on. Finally, they toured the facility and heard personal stories from the awesome caregivers at the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital.
The hospital is nationally recognized for its top medical care and groundbreaking child-life and emotional support programs, and the Foundation’s multi-year agreement will help ensure this level of care continues for those who need it most. And, what better way to commemorate this motorsports partnership than by delivering a fun, custom derby car racing experience to young patients who could use a distraction from their stressful medical treatments?
You can help kids, too:
The France family and The NASCAR Foundation’s Speediatrics Children’s Fund are committed to helping kids in need of medical care get the best treatment possible, and the Foundation has helped over 500,000 children through Speediatrics efforts since 2006. Hotels for Hope is proud to support their cause by donating up to $2 per actualized room night for all NASCAR fan bookings to the nonprofit. At no cost to guests, anyone who books a room with Raceday Hotels™ by Hotels for Hope at nascar.com/hotels will help fund this awesome initiative.
